KangarooCare Review and Giveaway

I recently had the opportunity to review a nursing necklace and teething toy from KaragrooCare on Etsy. KangarooCare makes gorgeous jewelry and toys for mom and baby that are safely made with Juniper wooden beads and cotton (organic cotton available). These necklaces come in a variety of styles, but all are beautiful! I especially love that the owner of the shop, Varja, uses such bright colors in the cotton thread that covers the beads

What is a nursing necklace? Well, they are meant to be warn while breastfeeding or bottle feeding to give baby something to play with and focus on while feeding. Monkey is a VERY distracted eater so he has a very hard time getting the job done. If I don’t go into a dark quiet room, he’ll usually only make it through a partial session regardless of if he’s still hungry. Using this nursing necklace in addition to being in a quiet place really helps to keep Monkey’s attention on eating. He can easily manipulate the beads through his fingers, and he loves the colors.

The great part about KangarooCare is that Varja’s necklaces also double as a teether for baby. There have been many times where I’m wearing the necklace when we are out and about, holding Monkey, and he will pick up the necklace and start gnawing away. He loves chewing on the necklace with his sore gums. Varja also makes teething toys specifically for baby with a similar style to the necklaces. Monkey has enjoyed playing with and chewing on his. I don’t think I’ve mentioned this on the blog, but lately Monkey has really become a biter – if I’m carrying him in the Ergo, he’ll try and bite my neck, so it’s great to have the distraction right there at arm’s reach.

My overall impression: KanagarooCare products are high quality and gorgeous. Seriously, these things are beautiful. I’ve gotten a few compliments on my necklace, and when I tell people what they are – they can’t believe that it’s not just a necklace, but it also has a function! These things are so attractive that they look like they are solely meant to be a necklace. I also love that they are made from natural wood and organic cotton making them completely vegan and eco-friendly. Lastly, Varja leaves the cords long so that you can tie them to any length you choose.

*Extra note – I had this post mostly written when I wore my necklace out yesterday to run some errands. The cashier at one of the stores said over and over how much she loved my necklace. She had absolutely no idea that it doubles as a nursing/teething necklace!

Seriously, in the last week I have noticed that my baby is pulling away often to look around. I wonder if this necklace would work for her.

Just discovered your blog! I’m 31 weeks pregnant and a friend of mine actually gave me one of these necklaces from etsy. I’m so, so excited to get to use it. And it looks much cuter on than I expected!

  4. I’ve never heard of these necklaces- but with an 8 month old who rips my earrings out, pulls my hair, and now likes to kick a lot while nursing- these sound genius! I am really interested in the teethers as well- and you’re right, they’re really pretty.
