bumGenius Elemental Review and Giveaway

While I have had a strong love for prefolds ever since Monkey was itty bitty, lately I’ve been growing some love for all-in-one cloth diapers. All-in-one cloth diapers tend to be the most expensive when it comes to cloth, and since we have been on a pretty strict budget for a while, I don’t have many. So of course I was very excited when Bouncing Babies gave me the chance to review a bumGenius Elemental.

Bouncing Babies is a small, cloth diaper company run by Megan and Stacey – two woman very passionate about cloth diapering.  They originally met on a cloth diaper forum and then decided to own this business together. They both have years of experience with cloth diapering, so they are very open to any questions you may have regarding products, use, you name it!  They are super nice and shipped my diaper too me very quickly!

When I first heard about the bumGenius Elemental, I was very anxious to try it out as it is made with 100% organic cotton. So, not only does it have natural fibers against babies bum, it has organic natural fibers! When I received the product in the mail, I was very impressed with how soft the inside of the diaper felt. By being an all-in-one (AIO), this means that the bumGenius Elemental is pretty much as close to a disposable as you can get. Everything is built right into the diaper. You just snap it onto baby, and then snap off and throw it into your diaper pail once dirty. Since the diaper itself is waterproof, there is no need to handle an additional cover…and no need for snappis or pins! The great thing about the Elemental is that the absorbent layers are sewn in; however, they are only sewn in at the ends so that they are free to move in the washer and dryer. This helps cut down on dryer time. It also ensures that the absorbent layers truly get clean in the wash. OH! I almost forgot to mention, the Elemental is a one-size diaper. This means that it has an adjustable rise with snaps that allow the diaper to grow with baby. According to the manufacturer, the diaper should fit babies from 7-35 pounds!

My Thoughts

Do I like this diaper? Yes. Do I love this diaper? Absolutely. I washed it three times to prep, and then tried it out with Monkey. I actually ended up using it on him three different times before this review. Twice, he just peed, but once he actually had a bowel movement (which I was hoping for so that I could truly review the diaper.) In those three times, the diaper never leaked, and when Monkey pooped – there were no stains. I did use the diaper sprayer right away, so that may have helped with staining. The diaper does take a bit longer than our usual prefolds to dry, but not much. Lastly, the Elemental makes an extremely trim fit on Monkey. Sometimes his big ol’ cloth diapers get in the way of him crawling around as freely as he would in a disposable, but the Elemental is very trim and allowed for free movement!

Please tell/ask the administrator for the Go Green, Get Fit challenge to turn off the Captcha. It’s horrible and took at least 6 times to finally get something I could type in and be accepted.
